1985 – "Royals Trump Speed and Pitching"

The Cardinals unleashed a team that looked more like it belonged in 1912 than 1985, and ran and pitched their way to the pennant behind Willie McGee and Vince Coleman and solid starting pitching.

The Royals, led by George Brett held off California by a game to win the Division, and then took California for the Pennant.

Then the Royals trumped all that speed and pitching, and took the first "InterState 70" Series ever played in seven games.

The 1985 card set contains 650 players, the 25 players most representative of each team during the season.

The 1985 "extra players" card set contains 293 players, compromising every player who played in the big leagues in 1985 and is not a part of the 25-man lineup in the regular card set.

In all, 943 player cards--every 1985 big league ball player -- all symbols necessary for both board game versions are printed directly on the cards. A roster sheet that lists the most frequently used 25 players for each team and representative lineups is included with the 1986 basic card set.
