1970 – "Orioles and Red Machines"

 

The 1970 Orioles won 108 games.  Behind a trio of 20 game winners and a solid hitting attack, they won their division handily and swept the Twins in the playoff.  The Reds boasted the nucleus of what was to later be known as "The Big Red Machine", also swept their playoff series with the Pirates.

 

The Reds were led by Bench, Rose, Concepcion, and Perez, and the Orioles featured Brooks and Frank Robinson and pitchers Palmer, McNally, and Cuellar.

 

The Orioles won the Series in 5 games.
