1967 – "The Impossible Dream"
The
1967 Bostons were a "team of destiny" led by Triple Crown winner Carl
Yastrzemski. After securing an
incredibly contested pennant where they finished 1 game ahead of two pursuers
and 3 games ahead of the fourth place team, they looked to the World Series to
win their first Championship since 1918.
It
wasn't to be. The St. Louis Cardinals
demolished the National League during the season and were led into the Series
by Bob Gibson, their ace. Yastremski
held up his end of the bargain, clobbering the ball, but Gibson won three games
and the Cardinals were champions.
718 player
cards--every 1967 Major Leaguer. All
symbols necessary for both board game versions are printed directly on the
cards. A roster sheet is included
listing the most frequently used 25 players for each team and representative
lineups.
