1962 – "Everything’s Cool"

Everything was cool in 1962.  The Cuban Missile Crisis hadn’t interrupted the peace and Vietnam was not in the public conscience.  In Baseball, the Yanks reigned supreme once again, although it was apparent that a new set of teams was pushing toward the top.  The National League, however, saw the fifth different team win a pennant in five years.  The Giants and Dodgers went to the wire, with the Reds close behind.  The Giants took the three-game playoff to become Champions.

The Yankees took the Series, but it went down to the last out.  The '62 Giants are one of the great run-scoring machines of all time, and the Yanks are, well, they're the Yanks.
