1958 – "West Coast in the
Majors"
The Dodgers
and Giants moved to the West Coast for the 1958 season. The change of scenery didn't improve their
on-the-field fortunes, however, as the World Champion Milwaukee Braves, behind
slugger Hank Aaron and the strong pitching of Warren Spahn and Lew Burdette,
took the pennant for the second straight year.
The
Yankees were powered by Mickey Mantle and Yogi Berra, as usual. Bob Turley won 21 games and Whitey Ford was
stingy with runs.
Ted
Williams led the AL in batting at the age of 39, and Ernie Banks hit 47 homers
in the NL.
The
Yankees reversed the Series result of 1957 by winning in 7 games, winning their
7th World Series Championship in 10 years, all under manager Casey Stengel.
580
player cards--every 1958 Major Leaguer.
All symbols necessary for both board game versions are printed directly
on the cards. A roster sheet is
included listing the most frequently used 25 players for each team and
representative lineups.
