1956 – "Yankees & Dodgers
Again, Ho-hum"
"Next
year" came and went, and the statust quo appeared to have returned. The Yanks, led by Mickey Mantle's
triple-crown season, held off a pitching-rich Cleveland staff while the
Dodgers, finished first by a game in a tight three-team race.
The
Dodgers added another future Hall-of-Fame pitcher, Don Drysdale, to their
talent-laden but aging ball club; one which already boasted Robinson, Reese,
Snider, Campanella, and Koufax, future Hall-of-Famers all.
Mantle
was terrific, but had an able supporting cast in Yogi Berra, Hank Bauer, Bill
Skowron, and Whitey Ford. The Indians
just couldn't keep up with them.
The
Series began with two Dodger victories.
Ford, however, became the stopper and the Yankees took four straight to
win the championship.
542
player cards--every 1956 Major Leaguer.
All symbols necessary for both board game versions are printed directly
on the cards. A roster sheet is included

lineups.
