Series"
Vic Wertz,
Larry Doby, Bobby Avila, and Al Rosen led the Indians to 111 Wins. The Cleveland pitching staff was daunting
with Early Wynn, Bob Lemon, Bob Feller, Mike Garcia, and Art Houtteman.
The
Giants beat out the Dodgers for the title behind Willie Mays, Al Dark, Johnny
Antonelli, Ruben Gomez, Sal Maglie, and a strong supporting cast.
In
the Series, the favored Indians were routed by the Giants in four games. Still, this Cleveland team was one of the
strongest Americn League teams in history, and won the pennant over a Yankee
team that won 103 games.
