1952 – "Casey and the Yanks, win fourth straight!"

Joe DiMaggio called it quits, but youngster Mickey Mantle took over center field and the Yanks continued their mastery over the American League despite a strong Cleveland club. In the National League, the Dodgers outlasted the Giants, who lost Monte Irvin to injury most of the year and Willie Mays to the service.

The Dodgers put a team on the field that boasted four future Hall-of-Famers; Jackie Robinson, Duke Snider, Roy Campanella, and PeeWee Reese, and had five pitchers winning 11 or more games.

Hank Sauer of the Cubs and Ralph Kiner of the Pirates led the league in Home Runs and Robin Roberts won 28 games for the 4th place Phils.

Yogi Berra, Mickey Mantle and Allie Reynolds led the Yanks while Larry Doby (32 homers) and the Indians, featuring a strong pitching staff (three 22-game winners) kept the pressure on until the final weeks of the season.
