1948 PCL – "Casey’s heading for New York"

The 1948 PCL featured a two-game pennant victory by Casey Stengel's "Nine Old Men," over the cross-bay San Francisco Seals. No doubt the star Seals player, Gene Woodling, made a big impression on the "Old Perfesser", racking up a .385 average and smacking 22 doubles, 13 triples, and 22 homers.
