1942 – " Stan the Man and the Cardinals"

The final season before the needs of the war began stripping the talent from the majors saw the Cardinals field the first of three consecutive teams that won over 100 games.  Although the Cards won 106 games, the Dodgers won 104.  But in the Series, the Redbirds took four out of five to win the Championship.

The 1942 Cardinals are probably one of the top ten teams of all time, and were led by Enos Slaughter, Stan Musial and "the Captain" Terry Moore.
