1935 – "Cubs and Tigers"

The Tigers repeated their AL pennant win of 1935, proving the star-laden Bengal lineup was no fluke. With a team batting average of .390 and Bridges and Row leading the pitchers, they beat out the Yanks by 3 games.

In the NL, the Cubs prevailed over the Cardinals by 4. The hitters averaged .288 and Lee and Warneke both won 20 games.

The Tigers took the Cubs in 6 to win their very first championship since the World Series began.
