1931 – "The Three-Peat, Not"
Connie
Mack and the A's stood on the threshold of baseball history, the first team to
win three World Championships.
Despite
the fact that the A's were one of the strongest teams ever, the three-peat was
not to be.
Grove,
Foxx, Simmons, et. al., came storming into the Series ... but Pepper Martin and
the Cardinals were up to the task, took the Cardinals to the 7th game, and won
the Series.
Mack,
though he managed another 20 years, was destined never to lead his A's to the
Series again.
492
player cards--every 1931 Major Leaguer.
All symbols necessary for both board game versions are printed directly
on the cards. A roster sheet is included
listing the most frequently used 25 players for each team and representative
lineups.
