1930 – "Can’t Anybody Here
Pitch?"
The story
in 1930 was not of winners or losers, but the game itself. American League hitters averaged .288, while
the National League batted an eye-popping .303. There actually were a couple of pitchers, Lefty Grove of the
Athletics, and Dazzy Vance of the Dodgers, who managed an ERA of about half
their league ERA's. Outside that, it
was pretty much of a slugfest.
The
Cardinals and Athletics latched up in the World Series ... apparently all worn
out, as the Athletics won in a very quiet 6 games. The batting average for the Series was a paltry .299.
493
player cards--every 1930 Major Leaguer.
All symbols necessary for both board game versions are printed directly
on the cards. A roster sheet is
included listing the most frequently used 25 players for each team and
representative lineups.
Skeetersoft, Inc.’s card sets are available exclusively from Skeetersoft,
