1915 – "Red Sox, Phillies, and
Whales"
The 1915
Federal League featured what remains the closest race in Major League
History. Three clubs finished within a
half-game, and the Whales took the race by .001 over the St. Louis Terriers.
At
the end of the season, the Federal League closed down after only two years of
play.
The
Red Sox, after outlasting Detroit, rode the strong arms of Foster, Shore, Ruth,
Wood, and Leonard into the World Series where they vanquished the Phillies in 5
games. Pete Alexander paced the Phils
with 31 wins during the regular season.
The Phils also boasted the leagues biggest slugger, Gavvy Cravath, who
belted 24 homers.
733
player cards--every 1915 Major Leaguer.
All symbols necessary for both board game versions are printed directly
on the cards. A roster sheet is
included listing the most frequently used 25 players for each team and
representative lineups.
